Pharmacognostical Studies on the Crude Drugs of Orchidaceae from Taiwan-2-On"I-tiam-hong(一点〔コウ〕)"-2-

The botanical origins of "I-tiam-hong" found on the Taiwan market have been assumed to be the entire plants of Nervilia purpurea and N. aragoana as reported in the previous paper. In this paper, histological studies on "I-tiam-hong" derived from other Nervilia species growing in Taiwan and "Chin-ten-gue" on the Hong Kong market were made. From the characteristics of their external and internal structures, it is possible to identify the botanical origins of these crude drugs. The results show that "Chin-ten-gue" is prepared from two plants, one being N. purpurea and the other being as yet unclear; the latter is much like N. fordii and sometimes is found on the Hong Kong market only. The morphological characteristics of "I-tiam-hong," "Chin-ten-gue," and Nervilia plants from Taiwan are shown in Table 1.
