Studies on the Nepalese Crude Drugs (Part IV) : On the Saponins in the Leaves of Hedera nepalensis K. KOCH.

Six saponins (I-VI) were isolated from the leaves of Hedera napelensis K. KOCH. (Araliaceae), and saponins I, III, IV, V and VI were identified as HN-saponins B (=Kizuta saponin K_3), E (=Kizuta saponin K_6), M (=Kizuta saponin K_<10>), N (=Kizuta saponin K_<11>) and P (=Kizuta saponin K_<12>), respectively, which had previously been isolated from the stem and bark of this plant. Based on chemical and physicochemical data, II was identified as Kizuta saponin K_5 (3-oxo-20(S)-dammar-24-ene-6α,20,26-triol 26-0-β-D-glucopyranoside), which had been isolated from the stem and bark of Hedera rhombea Bean (Araliaceae).
