Convolution and Acoustoelectric Effect by Elastic Surface Waves in Coupled Semiconductor-Piezoelectric System

A perturbation theory is given for nonlinear interactions of elastic surface waves with electrons in a coupled semiconductor/piezoelectric system. All the second-order interactions are explicitly taken into account for the calculation of the convolution and acoustoelectric effect. Expressions are obtained for the transverse convolution and acoustoelectric voltages observed in the external output circuit. The usual current model and the simple varactor model are critically discussed from the view point of the present theory.
