Oscillation of Two-Dimensional Modes in Transverse-Distributed-Feedback Cavity Lasers

A new two-dimensional injection laser is proposed and the operation of the laser is experimentally demonstrated. The observed emission angles of two-dimensional modes are in very good agreement with theoretical values. We found that the horizontal beam divergence angles of the two-dimensional modes are much narrower than those of conventional Fabry-Perot semiconductor lasers.
