Magnetic Susceptibility of Antiferromagnetic KCoF_3 Single Crystal-^<19>F NMR and Static Measurements

The temperature dependemtce of the parallel and perpendicular suscepti-bilities of an antiferromagnetic KCoF3 single crystal has been obtained fromthe shift of "F NMR and tl?e static magnetic measuremertts in both the para-magnetic and antiferromagnetic states. A large residual value of the parallelsusceptibility, (4.6i0.1)XIO'-'emu/mole, is observed even at 4.2K, whichis ascribed to the residual or'bital momentum of Co" ions. The absolute valueand the temperature dependence of the susceptibility are in general accordwith the theoretical prediction by N. Suzuki, T. Isu and K. Motizuki basedon the correlated effective field approximation.
