Effect of Heat Treatment on the Low-Temperature NQR Spectrum of ^<139>La in Single Crystals and Polycrystals of the Antiferromagnetic La_2CuO_4

Zero-field nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectra of "'La are examined at1.3 K for single crystals and polycrystals of the antiferromagnetic LazCuO. whichhave been subject to heat treatrnents of oxygenation or deoxygenation. Although theNe'el temperature (7'.) deternnined from the static susceptibility strongly depends onthe heat treatments, the peak positions of the NQR spectrum at 1.3 K are invariantagainst the heat treatments for samples with T. between 135 and 305 K, suggestingthat the sublattice moment of the Cu spins at low temperatures is invariant against theheat treatments. A simple oxygen-deficient model described by La.Cu0. ,5 is found tobe inadequate from observed effects of the heat treatments on the line widths of theNQR spectrum.
