Magnetic Properties in the Normal State of LuNi_2B_2C Observed by^<61>Ni and ^<11>B NMR

Tlae "Ni spin-lattice relaxation rate, "T) ', and the Knight shift of' a 91% "Ni enrichedsanaple of LtrNizBzC have been rneasured in the nortnal state. It was f'ound that "(TjT) 'shows a Curie-XVeiss like behavior, while the Knight shift has a slight temperature dependence.The hyperfine coupling constant is estimated to be "A : -16 k0e/pp, which is 2111 order ofmagnitude smaller than that dtre to the 3d-core-polarization mechanisrn. When the orbital termof the relaxation rate is given by the forrautrla calculated for the tetragonal (D2.Z) symnaetry atthe "Xi sites, rntrch larger d-spin terna tlaan that expected from the Knigl'xt shift is obtained.The Korringa relation is also disctrssed on the assumption that the hyperfine coupling constantis reduced by a strong s-d admixttrre, and then the deviation f'rozn the Korringa relation forfree electrons, A(a), is rnore tlaan one. This restrlt strggests the significance of the generalizedstrsceptibility, ((q), at finite wave vectors.
