In a conventional manner, two octadecapeptides corresponding to the entire amino acid sequences of camel β_1 and β_2-MSHs were synthesized. Synthetic peptides exhibited the in vitro MSH activities of 5.1×10^9 and 1.1×10^9 MSH unit/g, respectively.
