Syntheses of Glucosides with Trimethylolpropane and Two Related Polyol Moieties by Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase and Their Esterification by Lipase

For the syntheses of glucosyl trimethylolpropane (Glc-TMP), glucosyl trimethylolethane (Glc-TME), and glucosyl pentaerythritol (Glc-PE), Bacillus stearothermophilus cyclodextrin glucanotransferase was much more effective than Bacillus criculans and Bacillus macerans enzymes. The amounts of Glc-TMP synthesized increased with the concentrations of the substrates and the CGTase activity. In the esterification of the glucosides with oleic and lauric acids by a lipase from Candida cylindracea, the esters increased in the following order; Glc-PE<Glc-TME<Glc-TMP. Palmitic acid gave no esters of the three glucosides.
