Magnetic Susceptibilities of the Frustrated Triangular Lattice Antiferromagnets CsVCl_3 and VX_2(X=Cl,Br and I):Appearance of Magnetic Liquid in the Ordered State

Magnetic susceptibilities z of the frustrated triangular lattice antiferromagnetsCsVCl, and VX. (X=Cl, Br and I) have been measured by means of the con-ventional Faraday-type as well as the SQUID magnetometers. The z-T curve ofCsVCl. shows a typical 10-like character in agreement with the early work byNiel et al. At TNT., z. increases rapidly with decreasing T, whereas z. stays ata constant value. The ,l'-7' curve in VX. which are thought to be 2D-like systemsis very flat and shows an anomaly at IN. Surprizingly, however, no anisotropycould be detected below 7'N. This suggests that the transition is quite differentfrom the conventional one for the non-frustrateJ antiferromagnetic systemsand a magnetic liquid state is formed in the ordered state.
