KCuF_3 is one of the typical example of the Heisenberg type one-dimensional antiferromagnet with S=1 / 2. It has a broad maximum in susceptibility curve at about 243°K but the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature is only 20°K (or 38°K). Recent experimental results on crystallogaphic, susceptibility, specific heat, neutron diffraction, ESR and NMR measurements etc. are summarised and more recent NMR studies of the dynamics of this system will be reported in greater detail. All these results are strongly characteristic of one-dimensionality of this spin system.
