Neutron Scattering Study of a One-Dimensional Ising-Like Antiferromagnet CsCoCl_3. I. Instantaneous Correlation

Instantaneous spin correlations .1/'(Q) in CsCoCl. have been studied by meansof quasi-elastic neutron scattering technique and well defined plane-like intensitydistribution characteristic for 10 system has been observed. At temperatureshigher than 30 K, the observed temperature variation of 9'(Q) is in good agree-ment with therigorous solution for the 10 Ising antiferromagnet with ?J?/k=75 K.When the temperature is decreased, 3D critical scattering consistent with thepreviously worked model can be observed at two Neel points T.,.=21.3 K andT..=9.2 K.
