Linear and nonlinear responses of magnetization in K.CL1F. (7'.=6.25 K)have been measured as functions of magnetic field and temperature for bothdirections parallel and normal to the easy plane. The measttred isothermal magne-tizations for the direction parallel to the plane strongly suggest that the transitionPO10t IC K2CL1F4 IS fundarnentally Of the Kosterlxtz-Thouless type bat IT1Od1fiCdslightly by the 3D interactions. When the field is applied normal to the plane, acritical line indicating the lowering of the T. is observed. This again suggests thetransition is of characteristic for the XY-system.
