Resolution Function and Recent Developments of the Multi-Analyser Crystal Spectrometer MAX

The multi-analyser crystal spectrometer (MAX) installed at KENS has the unique capability of measuring collective excitations in single crystal samples with the time-of-flight method. We report the recent developments as well as the resolution function formulation of the spectrometer. The important characteristics of MAX which are useful in understanding the ability of the spectrometer are also described.
