Effect of Magnetic Field on Crystal Lattice in Dysprosium Studied by X-Ray Diffraction

A change of the c-lattice parameter of Dy which is induced by magnetic field along the easydirection of rnagnetization has been sttrdied by X-ray diffraction in the temperattrre range oftlae helix phase, A discontinuotrs change of the c lattice parameter acconapanying to the helixto fan or ferrotaaagnetic transition has been observed below 170 K, but it becomes continuouschange above 170 K to Ty. The lattice zaaodtzlation witJa the sanae wave ntzmber as the naagneticnaodulation has been observed at the distorted helix phase, which can be explained in terrns oftnagnetoelastic ef['ect.
