Magnetization Process of Spiral to Ferromagnet in Dy

The spiral to ferromagnetic phase transition in Dy which is induced by magnetic field has been investigated using the X-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements. The appearance of the ferromagnetic phase has been detected by X-ray diffraction through the observation of the discontinuous change of the lattice parameter. The magnetization process near T_c has been well explained in terms of the coexistence of the spiral and ferromagnetic phases, while the volume fraction of the ferromagnetic phase is found to be not sufficient to reproduce the magnetization well above T_c.
