X-Ray Diffraction Studies of FeRh_<0.38>Pd_<0.62> Alloy with Orthorhombic Structure

The crystalline structure of FeRh_<0.38>Pd_<0.62> alloy was examined by means of X-ray diffractometry. In this alloy, a new ferromagnetic phase was found below 265 K in the matrix body-centered tetragonal phase. The low-temperature phase has an orthorhombic structure (space group : C_<mmm>). The Fe atoms on 4i sites of the orthorhombic structure are displaced along the b-axis, while the Rh and Pd atoms on 4j sites are displaced along the a-axis.
