Neutron Diffraction Study of Antiferromagnetic Order in the Kondo Compound CePdSn

Magnetic structure of the Kondo compound CePdSn is studied by neutron diffraction experiments on a single-crystalline sample. Below T_N=7 K, Ce moments establish a single-Q type ordering S_<nv>=a_ve^<ik・Rn>+a^*_v e^<-ik・Rn> with incommensurate modulation vector k=0.473b^*. The polarization vectors a_v cannot uniquely be determined from scattering intensities, and thus those which reproduce the intensities are selected using a maximum entropy method. The polarization vectors have a, b and c components with root mean square of the moment m_<rms>=0.82±0.08μ_B (m^a_<rms>=0.59, m^b__<rms>=0.48, m^c_<rms>=0.30μ_B) at T=1.5 K.
