Studies on Distribution of ^3H-Dimethylesculetin and its Excretion in Rats

The distribution and excretion of 3H-dimethylesculetin (^3H-DME) were studied in rats. After i.v. injection of ^3H-DME, the blood level of radioactivity decreased in two phases. The level of radioactivity was the highest in the kidney and liver, moderate in plasma, lung and heart, and low in testis and fat. The excretion from liver was much slower than that from kidney. After oral administration of ^3H-DME, 66 % of the total radioactivity was detected in urine, whereas only 14 % was in the bile. The relationship between the pharmacology and the pharmacokinetics of DME was discussed.
