Seasonal variations of the alkaloid (corybulbine, corydaline and cavidine) contents of the tubers of Corydalis ambigua CHAM. et SCHLECHT. (Papaveraceae) were studied by using the plant cultivated in Otaru, Japan. The corybulbine, corydaline and cavidine contents in the fresh tubers, reached their first maximum in about August or September, and the dryness factor of the tubers remained at its maximum from June to August. This suggests that August is the best harvest month. During the plant renewal stage in May, the alkaloids which had been accumulated in the old tissues, were discharged from the tuber with obliterated tissue.
