Pharmacological Properties of Galenical Preparation-12-Components of Chinese Traditional Prescription"KANZOBUSITO"(甘草附子湯)in Rat Portal Blood after Oral Administration

Qualitative analysis of rat plasma components after oral administration of "KANZOBUSITO" (甘草附子湯) (K.B.) was carried out by HPLC. Two major compounds were detected, which were identified as cinnamic acid and 6E,12E-tetradecadiene-8,10-diyne-1,3-diol by the comparison of the retention time of HPLC, ultraviolet spectrum and mass spectrum with those of authentic samples. These compounds were also detected in the plasma after oral administration of cinnamic aldehyde and 6E,12E-tetradecadiene-8,10-diyne-1,3-diol diacetate. Accordingly, the two compounds detected in the plasma can be the compounds originally existing in K.B. and absorbed through the gastrointestinal tracts, or the metabolits from cinnamic aldehyde and 6E,12E-tetra-decadiene-8,10-diyne-1,3-diol diacetate, also contained in K.B.
