A New Flavonoid Glycoside from Pituranthos tortuosus Desf, Benth & Hook

A new flavonol triglycoside, isorhamnetin-3-O-apiosyl (1→2) [rhamnosyl (1→6)] glucoside and four known flavonoids, isorhamnetin, chrysoeriol, isorhamnetin-3-O-glucoside and isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside, were isolated from Pituranthus tortuosus Desf, Benth & Hook growing in Egypt. Their structures were identified by spectroscopic analysis including ^1H-NMR, ^<13>C-NMR and 2D NMR (COSY, HMQC and HMBC), MS and UV spectroscopy. Various fractions of the plant extract and the isolated compouds were tested for the anti-tumor-promoting activity, which showed that chrysoeriol and isorhamnetin were active, isorhamnetine 3-0-glucoside weakly active and isorhamnetine 3-O-rutinoside and isorhamnetine 3-O-apiosyl (1→2) [rhamnosyl (1→6)] glucoside scarecely active.
