On the ω-q Relation of the Soft Mode of KDP Studied by Light Scattering under a High Pressure

A low frequency component of the B. spectra of KDP in z(yx)zA-b and x(yx)ygeometries has been observed under a hydrostatic pressure in a range 0-52.0 kbar us-ing a diamond anvil cell. Numerical fitting of the spectra based on the coupledphonon model derives a curious co - q relation of the soft mode at T point of theBrillouin zone. The co -q relation suggests break-down of the soft-mode model ofKDP. The pressure dependence of the spectral shape confirms the existence of thepressure-induced phase transition at 27.5 kbar reported previously by an X-ray work.A new central component grows rapidly at 40.0 kbar indicating a new phase transilion induced by pressure at room temperature.[KDP, Raman scattering, central peak, phase transition, soft mode, high lf pressure, coupled-phonon modell
