Elastic Anomaly of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition of Li_2Ge_7O_<15> Studied by the Brillouin Scattering

• Temperature dependence of the Brillouin scattering spectra of lithium heptager-manate Li.Ge,0., has been observed near the paraelectric-ferroelectric phase transi-lion temperature T.. A longitudinal acoustic mode propa);ating along the Z>-axisshows an elastic anomaly in the frequency shift and also in the spectral width. Anorder-disorder type phase transition mechanism describes the temperaturedependence of the elastic anomaly in terms of a piezoelectric eoupling below T.. Thedepolarization field effect is confirmed by comparison with both results on thetransverse and longitudinal acoustic modes each other.
