Superconductor-Insulatoer Transition in Granular Films of Tin

To study the supercondtuctor-insulator (81) transition in two-dimensional systezns, we rneasturedelectrical resistance of Sn granular films with 24 nrn grains over a temperature range from 9 K to50 mK. A distinct 81 transition was observed when the normal-conducting sheet resistance Rgis increased, showing that neither flat tail nor quasi reentrance is the intrinsic effect in granularsystems. If we define Rj< as the sheet resistance at 77 K, the critical sheet resistance 7?. for theSltransition exists between 6.0 kO and 6.9 kQ. For the samples which showed superconductivityat low teznperatures, we analyzed the resistance based on the vortex Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT)transition.
