^<63>Cu Spin-Lattice Relaxation in Cu-Mn and Cu-Au Fine Metallic Particles

We measured the ^<63>Cu nuclear relaxation rate in Cu-Mn and Cu-Au fine particles having a mean diameter of 60 Å. We found that the suppression of the rate due to level quantization of conduction electrons is eliminated by spin scattering resulting from Mn impurities, while it is not affected by spin-orbit scattering resulting from Au impurities.
