Precursor of Charge Kosterlitz-Thouless-Berezinskii Transition in Tin Granular Film

We measured the low-temperature resistance of two-dimensional random networks of very small tunneling junctions. The networks consist of slightly oxidized tin particles with linear size of about 0.1 μm. The temperature dependence of the resistance was found to be stronger than that of the Arrhenius type within a certain temperature range. We interpret this behavior as a precursor of the charge Kosterlitz-Thouless-Berezinskii transition. The real transition is not attainable because the system is not ideally two-dimensional.
