Anomalous Propagation of Short-Wavelength Third Sound

The propagation of the third sound in a superfluid 'He film with wavelengthof several ten /201 was studied at 0.9 K by the conventional method employingnarrow strips of superconducting films as an emitter and detectors. Some anoma-lous wave-forms which are very much different from those for long wavelengthwere observed. The resuls are discussed in connection with the recent theory ofsolitons in a superfluid 'He film.
