Paramagnetism in NiSe_2

The magnetic properties of a pyrite counpound NiSez have been investigatedby the "Se NMR, the magnetic susceptibility and the specific heat measuremeuttsin the temperature range between 1.6 and 300 K. The electronic specific heatcoefficient, y, is obtained to be (8.5.51.0) ITLJ/K"1T1Ol. The values of the magneticsuscertnbjlit>z and the Knight shift are estimated to be 2.17 x to-' emu/mol ana-l-(I.0i0.I)Z, resrectivel>', both beimtu inderendent of temr>erature. The rroductof the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time and temperature, T.T, is found to beconstant with a value or 240 msec K. From these results, it is concluded thatNice. is one of the typical Pauli paramagnets and the usual Korringa relationholds with a relatively small exchange enhancernent effect.
