Electrical Properties of Piezoelectric Transducers with Space-Periodic Charge Distribution and Control of Properties

Space-periodic charge distribution formed optically in a semitransparent LiNbO_3:Fe piezoelectric transducer depresses the linear vibration of the transducer. The Q-value decreases and nonlinear phenomena such as nonlinear jump and hysteresis of the admittance often occur under some experimental conditions. Dependence of piezoelectric and dielectric properties on the internal electric field involved with the space-charge distribution was examined. These properties could be changed by changing the intensity of the internal electric field. In addition, the present nonlinear vibration could be controlled by the difference in the methods for driving the piezoelectric vibration.
