Optical Associative Memory Using LiNbO_3:Fe Hologram and BaTiO_3 Phase Conjugate Mirror (<Special Issue> FERROELECTRIC MATERIALS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS)

Experimental investigation is presented of an all-optical associative memory using a LiNbO_3:Fe hologram and BaTiO_3 phase conjugate mirror which is an improved self-pumped phase conjugate mirror with high response speed for a μW-order of the magnitude signal beam. In our experiment, a 40 μW readout light beam is used and an associated output is obtained within 2 s. Nonlinear reflectivity of the phase conjugate wave is expected to reflect the strongest signal and to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.
