The Relation between Acoustoelectric Non-Ohmic Conduction and Carrier Concentration in Tellurium at 77 K

The relation between the voltage or current wave forms of acoustoelectric nonlinear conduction and the electrical properties is studied at current conduction parallel to z-axis in pure and Sb-doped Te at 77 K. Continuous and strong oscillation is observed at higher carrier concentration than 5×10^<14>/cm^3. The experimental results for the incubation time of the conduction and for the magnitude of the acoustoelectric current show that ultrasonic amplification coefficient increases with increasing carrier concentration, and suggest that ultrasounds of higher frequency than the maximum gain frequency in the White's formulation are related to the conduction. There are some samples in which the origin of the acoustoelectric domain formation is a certain inhomogeneity in the crystals.
