Measurements of magnetization and susceptibility have been made on lightrare earth-copper intermetaJIic compounds, RCu.. The NdCu. compound showsantiferromagnetism at low temperatures but CeCu. and PrCu. compounds showno magnetic ordering down to 4.2 K. In the paramagnetic region, the suscep-tibility for PrCu. and NdCu. compounds obeys the Curie-Weiss law and there isa large anisotropy in the paramagnetic Curie temperature along the three principalaxes. The crystal field parameters V') and V", of PrCu. and NdCu. compoundsare determined from the values of the anisotropic paramagnetic Curie temperature.
