Magnetic Properties of (Mn,Cr) P and (Mn,Fe) P Compounds

Measurements of magnetization were carried out at temperatures from 4.2 to200 K on the single crystals of Mnj ,Fe.P compounds for ,v<0.15 and magneticsusceptibilities have been measured on polycrystals of Mn. .Fe,P andMn. .Cr.P compound systems. The Mn) .Fe,P compounds for ,X'<0.12 andMn. ,Cr.P compounds for x< 0.06 show antiferromagnetism at low temperaturesand ferromagnetism at high temperatures and the antiferro-ferromagnetic transi-lion temperature increases with incerasing x for the former system and decreasesfor the latter system.The Mnj .Fe.P compounds for 0.12<,X'<1 and Mn. .Cr,Pfor 0.06<,v<0.55 have only antiferromagnetism and ferromagnetism, respectively.The magnetization curves for the single crystal compounds were analyzed onthe basis of the theory of lliyamizu and Nagamiya.
