Magnetic Properties of TbCu_2 and DyCu_2 Single Crystals

The magnetization and susceptibility were measured for TbCu_2 and DyDu_2 single crystals from 4.2K to room temperature. The magnetization process at 4.2K showed a spin-flip transition and a two step one for TbCu_2 and DyCu_2, respectively. The paramagnetic Curie temperatures along the principal axes showed large anisotropy for both compounds, from which the crystalline field parameters of orthorhombic symmetry V_<2^0> and V_<2^2> were estimated.
