Pressure-Induced Antiferromagnetism of Fe_2P

The magnetization of FC2P single crystal was measured as a function of mag-netic field H, temperature T and hydrostatic pressure p, for 0<ff<20k0e,4.2K<T<26OK and 0<p<14kbar. It was found that the pressure-inducednew masnetic tchase below T= 170 K and abover= 5 kbar is the antiferromagneticwith one anct unusual two steps metamasnetic behaviours. H - T maunetic tchasediagrams were obtained at various pressures and they contains ferromagnetic,antiferromasnetic, intermediate and raramaunetic rhases. In contrast with thedrastic change in the Curie temperature with pressure, the magnetization at4.2 K was pressure-insensitive. The pressure-induced magnetic transition and theantiferroma:netism of FC2P are ctualitativelv discussed on the basis of the com-petition between the two different interactions and of the itinerant electrontheory recently developed.
