• UNiSn undergoes a natrltiplex transition frotn a parata?agnetic seunicondtrctor (Phase I) to ananti['errotaaagnetic rnetal with ferroquadrtrpolar order (Phase III) art T? x 43 K in zero field.We have tneastrred elastic raaoduli, thertaaal expansion, magnetiztttion and electrical resistivity ofUNiSn Ill taaagnetuc field. ]VIagnetic field raises the qtradrtrpole-ordering tenaperattrre Tc), xvhicEwas f'otrnd to be identuc?tl to the senaicondtrctor-taaetal transition tertaperature ISM, while Tg isnearly field-independent. XVe observed a separation of T? and Tc) in high taaagnetic field abovexJ T and we fotrnd 21 new phase (Phase II) between Tg and T0, which has been identified 2LSa paramagnetic naetal xvith ferroqtradrtrpolar order. The coincidence of T0?rnd TSM stronglystrggests that the ferroqtt?tdrtrpolar order is responsible ['or a change in electronic structtrre,leading to metallic condtrction.
