NMR Study of ^1H in Hexagonal C14 Type Laves Phase Metal-Hydrogen System ZrCr_2H_<4.2>:Diffusion and Korringa Relaxation of ^1H

The spin-lattice relaxation times T. and T,. of protons have been measured in a hex-agonal C14 type Eaves phase metal hydride ZrCr.ll... between 4.2 and 333 K. A Korr-inga type of relaxation due to conduction electrons is obtained as 7'..7'=5.01 sec?K,which is about one order of magnitude smaller than 55.6 sec?K in the C15 type Lavesphase lZrV.H.. T. exhibits a minimum owing to the diffusion of hydrogen and anasymmetric variation against l/ T about this minimum. The results of T.. measurements show that the asyrnmetric variation of T, is due to a distribution in the activa-lion energy E for the diffusion of hydrogen. The central value and the width of thedistribution of E are determined to be 0.29 eV arnd 0.05 eV, respectively.
