Measurements of magnetization, susceptibility, thermal expansion and electricalresistivity have been carried out on the RMn. compounds with R=Gd, Tb, Dy,Ho and Er. Magnetization measurements were made on the single crystals for allthe compounds. A simple ferrimagnetic structure is observed at 4.2 K for GdMn.,HoMn. and Bran., and an antiferromagnetic one in TbMn.. While, a cantedferrimagnetic structure appears at 4.2 K in DyMn.. The Mn moment deducedfrom saturation magnetization decreases rapidly f'rom 1.6 p. for GdMn. to 0.2p. for HoMn. with increasing the atomic number of rare earth in the C15 con-pounds. While, the Mn moment is almost zero in ErMn. with the C14 structure.Anomalous discontinuities in the thermal expansion and resistivity for GdMn.and TbMn. are observed at the magnetic transition temperature where Mnmoments lose a long range ordering. It seems likely thxt the discontinuity isassociated with the onset of the Mn moment.
