Production of α-Xylosidase by Aspergillus niger

α-Xylosidase, an enzyme capable of hydrolyzing p-nitrophenyl α-D-xylopyranoside and isoprimeverose (6-O-α-D-xylopyranosly-D-glucopyranose), was produced by a strain of Aspergillus niger.Glucose, xylose, isoprimeverose, soluble starch and a polysaccharide (Glyloid) from tamarind seed were not good inducers, while Glyloid treated with an enzyme preparation from Aspergillus oryzae (Sanzyme 1000) was the most effective inducer.
