Phenolic Constituents of Cimicifuga Species Rhizomes.

A new phenolic compound, 3,4-dihydroxyphenyl-2-oxopropyl isoferulate was isolated along with prim-O-glucosylcimifugin, prim-O-glucosylkhellol, kaempferol 3-0-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-galactopyranoside and quercetin 3-O-α-L-arabino-pyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-galactopyranoside from the rhizomes of Cimicifuga simplex. HPLC analysis showed that these and fukiic acid, piscidic acid, their esters and caffeic acid derivatives were common constituents of the rhizomes of C. simplex, C. acerina, C. japonica, C. heracleifolia, C. foetida and C. dahurica.
