The boiling water extract of dried powder from the aerial parts of Bidens pilosa var. radiata was chromatographed, 13 known compounds were obtained and characterized. The antioxidant activity of the fractions, isolated compounds, and some related compounds was measured and compared with that of Trolox C (a water-soluble tocopheroxyl vitamin E analogue). The active fractions proved to contain coffee tannins, caffeic acid derivatives, and flavonoids.
