Fluorescence chromosome banding in a Chinese larch, Larix chinensis Beissn

Larix chinensis Beissn. collected in Shaanxi Province, China had a karyotype (2n=24) composed of 12 long metacentric and 12 short submetacentric chromosomes. The chromomycin A_3 (CMA)-bands appeared at the secondary constriction in two large metacentric chromosomes and 4', 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI)-bands were localized at the proximal region of ten long metacentric and two short submetacentric chromosomes. The CMA-banding pattern of this species was the most similar to that of L. potaninii var. macrocarpa among the species examined, while the DAPI-banding pattern was the most similar to that of L. potaninii var. potaninii
