Populations of Pogonia japonica in Russia were bigger in size than those in Japan. Life history strategy in Pogonia japonica was generally the same in both areas studied. The plants of Epipactis thunbergii and Habenaria radiata studied in Japan showed higher speed of growth and higher intensity of vegetative reproduction than those in Russia. Those differences may be explained by climatic differences as well as genetic differences.
