Karyomorphology of Chrysosplenium griffithii collected in Sichuan Province, China

Chrysosplenium griffithii collected in the western part of Sichuan Province, China, was characterized with the resting nucleus of the complex chromocenter type, the mitotic prophase chromosomes of the interstitial type and the chromosome number of 2n=18. This chromosome number was observed here for the first time. The chromosome complement at mitotic metaphase showed a gradual decrease in length from the longest (4.4μm) to the shortest (3.0μm) chromosome and average chromosome length of 3.59μm. It consisted of eight median-centromeric and ten submedian-centromeric chromosomes.
