A karyological study of Allium grayi Regel and A. chinense G. Don in Sichuan Province, China

Allium chinense G. Don and A. grayi Regel collected in Dujangyan City, Sichuan Province, China were karyologically compared. All the plants of both species studied showed the common chromosome number of 2n=32 and karyotype variation. Mean karyotype formula of A. chinense was 2n=32=27.1m+3.9sm+1.0st, whereas that of A. grayi was 2n=32=27.1m+4.5sm+0.4st. A large median-centromeric chromosome was sometimes present in A. grayi
