Fluorescence in situ hybridization of ribosomal RNA gene in Cryptomeria japonica, Taxodiaceae

18S-5.8S-26S rRNA gene was mapped on the somatic chromosomes in Cryptomeria japonica D. Don by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). FISH signals of the probe appeared at the secondary constriction of the chromosome 10 in all plants and of the chromosome 6 in some plants. After observation of FISH signals followed staining with chromomycin A_3 (CMA) the CMA-bands are coincident with the FISH signals of rDNA.
