Anomalous Exciton Absorption in PbI_2 Films Produced via Amorphous-To-Crystalline Transformation

An anomaly was found in the film annealed at 410 K for 1 h after the crystallization at 198 K. Unlike the case of the ordinary film, the 1st exciton band showed a doublet structure at 77 K. Upon heating, its lower-energy component grew and sharpened, showing the smallest full width at half maximum, 7 meV, at 150 K. The anomaly was correlated with a random crystallographic orientation of individual crystallltes in the film.
