Effects of pH or temperature, using the isolated vas deferens from guinea pig, were investigated on the K- and the Ca-induced contractions. 1. Acid pH potentiated the K-induced contraction, while in the high-K, Ca-free media it slightly diminished the Ca-induced contraction. 2. Alkaline pH reduced the K-induced contraction to a certain level following a potentiation and it also slightly decreased 4 mM Ca contraction. 3. The K-induced contraction was suppressed at 38℃. 4. Cooling reduced the Ca-induced contractions and only tonic contraction by K. The above results suggested that it was possible for temperature or pH change to influence Ca mobilization.
