The Contractile Mechanism of Acetylcholine in the Isolated Seminal Vesicle of Guinea Pig, Particulary as to the Catecholamine Release

The contractile mechanism of ACh was investigated with special reference to the catecholamine release in the isolated seminal vesicle of guinea pig. 1. The influences of various drugs on the contractions by ACh, noradrenaline, tyramine and transmural stimulation were investigated and compared with one another and the results of Table 1 and 2 were obtained. 2. The contractions by ACh and trasmural stimulation were not affected by tyramine tachyphylaxis. The conraction by ACh was partially reduced after disappearance of the contraction by the repeated application of transmural stimulation. 3) By summarizing the results sated above, the following conclusion was obtained. (1) The contraction by ACh is due to the direct stimulation to the cholinergic receptor in a large part (about 80%) and the indirect stimulation by the catecholamine release in a small part (about 30%). (2) It is supported that the catecholamine release by ACh comes from the sympathetic nerve stimulation sensitive store and other stores, but does not come from the tyramine sensitive store. (3) The mechanism of catecholamine release by ACh is not the exchange reaction as like as that of tyramine, but is similar to that of transmural stimulation.
